  • Re building Livelihoods to VOCSET
    Strengthening prevention, prosecution and protection services for children at risk of or subjected to trafficking project aims to work with key stakeholders on a multi-sectoral level to address the issue of trafficking for child labour in Srikakulam,Visakhapatnam and East Godavari Districts in Andhra Pradesh.

    The project goal to prevent, protect and rehabilitate under 14 years girls and boys who are at risk of subjected to trafficking for labour in 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh by strengthening the government laws and institutions for child protection and establishing community based mechanisms thus ensuring that children\'s right to protection from exploitation and their right to education and development are fulfilled.

    Sravanti Organization started intervention for Combating Child Domestic Labour project in Vishakapatnam District, with the support of Plan India. The project Goal to prevent, protect and rehabilitate children below 14 years of age from child domestic labour in Vishakapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh by strengthening community based child protection mechanisms, through educational rehabilitation of children and economic empowerment of children families.

    The direct beneficiaries of project are children between the age of 6-14 years, who are either the victims of child domestic labour or the children vulnerable to child domestic labour or any other forms of labour in the Visakhapatnam district. The indirect beneficiaries of the project include the parents/caregivers of children rescued/prevented from labour; community members; members of Child Protection Committees (CPCs); duty bearers from labour, women and child development, police, judiciary and education departments; and the media.

Sravanti, a registered Non Government organization, has been working for empowerment of Women and children in East & West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. Thrust of Sravanti activities has been towards facilitating collective action of Fisher folk, Tribes, Dalits & Weavers. Sravanti works in collaboration with government agencies, local organizations, leaders in the community and various networks on programmes and projects for Women Empowerment, Child rights with focus on child protection, community based disaster preparedness, Health Education, Natural resource management (marine resources, Joint Forest management, mangrove conservation and sustainable aquaculture), responding to disasters and sustainable livelihood. We have been working in 85 villages of East and West Godavari districts and slums around Rajahmundry Our approach has been to involve all the stakeholders in the program. So, some of the common features that one would find in our projects or programs are ethical participation of community, local leaders and government agencies in designing and execution of the projects. Another feature is the transparency; all our project records including the finance records relating to the project are open for any stakeholder. We adopt a decentralized style of management; this has resulted in helping us to raise strong second line leadership with in the organization. Staff in the organization is well qualified. We ensure that there is gender balance while staffing for projects and for some jobs we open it for physically challenged. Staffs go though regular in-house and external training programs. The staffs works on achievable target for each quarter and works towards achieving it. As our staff works with women and children, we have strict guidelines and rules like child protection policy so that no abuse takes place in the field or in the office. To be able to reach out to all the people and families who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
